This photograph depicts Joseph Stay sitting at the side of his home after the death of Sarah Jane. The original picture is in the Paula Vilburn collection. This collection passed through a number of hands and then found its way back to Paula who now shares it with the family. After this time, Joseph lived at the home of Mary Cornelia Woodbury Stay his daughter in law. A room was constructed off the rear of the home for him to live in and receive care.
