Introduction
The purpose of The Stay Family Organization is to
allow family members and other persons interested in Stay genealogy to
share data, organize genealogical research efforts and assign tasks to
avoid duplication of effort. The organization is also dedicated to genealogical
education and research. The Organization is incorporated in the state of
Utah. It should be noted that the organization is expanded to include all
persons with the name of Stay worldwide. One of the databases includes
all Stays identified throughout the world from a historical perspective.
Some of the projects envisioned at this time include but are not limited
to the following:
Education -
- Use of the Internet for Genealogical
Research
- Family History development and publishing
- Provide education programs and seminars in
the development and use of a family organization WEB site.
- Education scholarships
Research -
- Internet applications for the development
of other family organizations
- Genealogical research
- Communications technology
- Special student projects at BYU
Service -
- Assist families to set up and utilize
family WEB sites
Fund development -
- Money collected from donations and special
projects will be used to provide Education, Research and Service projects.
No moneys collected will inure any individual for personal gain.
The Organization was established in 1988 with some
donations and help from a professional genealogical research specialist.
Some of the moneys collected were used for printing and mailing and to
publish the Joseph Stay book in order to lower the cost to members. The
organization went into inactivity. This Internet project is designed to
revitalize the organization by utilizing state of the art communications
systems and research programs.
The Stay Family Organization is registered as
a 501-C3 organization allowing individuals to donate money on a tax-free
basis to further the work and programs of the family organization.
Board Members -
An initial board has been elected by the organizing
committee to manage the organization, assure quality and launch the development
of a web site to meet the purposes outlined above.
The initial board members are: Timothy V. Stay,
Joseph Verl Green, Robert Myers, Jesse E. Stay, Gary E. Stay, Val G. Stay,
Richard L. Warburton and Larry Stay.
Net managers -
The management of the a WEB site as complex as the
Stay Family Organization is so labor intensive, that it will take a cadre
of managers from the family who will be assigned different tasks so the
work load is shared.
Should any family member have computer skills
wishing to share the workload as a "Net Manager" , please contact either
Tim V. Stay, Gary E. Stay or Paul R. Stay. It is expected that net managers
duties will not be time intensive because the work is spread so that each
task being focused will not be great.
History
The Stayfamily.org WEB site may well be the first
site world wide to feature a family oriented genealogical based family
history Internet organization. It was first conceived by Tim and
Gary Stay in 1997 and was developed by Hans Maggleby and his staff who
worked for Marketing Ally a telephone service center in Provo Utah owned
by Tim. The first server was located in a back room with computers,
cases removed, and wires everywhere. Hans did the basic structural
development with Gary providing the family files and much of the text that
is still in use today.
The Stayfamily Organization was founded upon the
values and principles outlined in a document known as “The
Family: A Proclamation to the World” published by the Church of Jesus
Christ of Latter-Day Saints.
